The idea of balancing supposedly comes from a subconscious decision while finding “lines”, i.e. boundaries in between objects and events. It may also be because of a bilingual background which facilitates a certain degree of self-conscious/self-awareness of an existing border between the two languages, which in turn fueled a passion for searching for and subsequently staring at metaphorical “lines”.
